Step 1: Choose your product

You can use Printify’s mockup generator without signing up for an account but we’d recommend doing it anyway as it’s free to do and you get a couple more features that you can utilize.

Once you’ve signed up for a free account, navigate to the product catalog and choose a product that you’d like to create a mockup for.

For example, we chose the Bella+Canvas Unisex Short Sleeve Tee:

If you’re looking to only create mockups for a particular product, all you need to do next is scroll down the page and click a ‘Start designing’ button for one of the print providers, and this will take you to the design editor.

Note: If you want to create a mockup in a particular color, make sure you click the ‘Start designing’ button for a print provider that offers that color:

Step 2: Upload your design

In the editor you can choose where you want to place the design on your chosen product, for example on our t-shirt we could choose to have the design on the front or the back of the t-shirt.

You’ll have different options depending on the product you’ve selected:

Note: Check out this article if you need some inspiration for print on demand designs.

Next up you need to upload a design that you want see in your mockup images you can select files from your device, Dropbox, or Google Drive.

Alternatively, you can choose a design from the Shutterstock library, create a new design via the ‘Custom text’ option, or use free elements from the ‘Graphics’ tab to make a new design:

If you click on the Shutterstock option, you’ll see a popup like this where you can search for designs from Shutterstock’s library to add to your product.

Note: The problem with using designs from Shutterstock is that you can’t get designs with a transparent background, so keep that in mind:

In the ‘Graphics’ tab you text elements that you can use, shapes, and also graphic such as plants, pets, patterns, and more that you can add to your product design for your mockups:

Clicking on the ‘Custom text’ option will add a text field to your product that you can edit, resize, and format it how you like:

You can also add multiple design elements (e.g. a graphic and text element) and whatever you add as your design you can save as template to be used in future product mockup designs:

To access your saved templates you can go to the ‘My templates’ tab and select them from there, you can also see previous design elements that you’ve used in the ‘My library’ tab:

Note: Again, you’ll need to be logged in to access your library and saved templates:

Once you’ve uploaded or created a design it’s time to choose a product color or colors for your mockup images.

You can select these by clicking the ‘Select’ button at the top right of the editor and choosing the colors that you want for your mockups:

Once you’re happy with your design and color settings you can now click the ‘Preview’ button at the top of the editor area, this will take you to a tab with your mockup images:

Step 3: Download your mockups

You should arrive on a page that looks similar to the image below, with your mockup image options on the right hand side, and color option below them:

You can select an image, and this will make it appear as the main image on the left side of the preview area, and you can also select a different color and this will reload all the mockups in that new color.

The last optional step is to add a mockup background. You should have the option to add a background image to any mockup that has a blank background in the preview area.

Note: You’ll need to be logged in to access this feature:

Once you’re happy with your mockup image you can now download it.

To do that simply click the download button at the bottom left of the preview area, and this will download a PNG file of your selected mockup image:

You’ll need to select each mockup and download them individually as there doesn’t appear to be a bulk download option at the moment.
